Candidate-reported interview process

I went through a headhunter and had two initial interviews. I received a verbal offer and an onboarding date in mid-March, but the company rescinded the offer by the end of March. They scheduled another interview for early April and then rejected me a week later.

I was contacted by a recruiter to set up a phone interview. The first phone interview was about 30 minutes and went well. The recruiter mentioned they would contact me within a few days to arrange a subsequent phone interview with the hiring manager. I reached out after a week and then again two weeks later, but I never received a response from the recruiter.

The interview process was average and involved good discussions. However, for an IT job in 2022, they expected me to pay for my own travel and accommodation to their location for an in-person interview, which was unexpected. I declined to cover the approximately 400€ for the round trip and hotel expenses myself.
