I've gone through interviews for 4 roles already and haven't gotten an offer. I've developed a feeling that Amgen's hiring managers/managers can't recognize talent, or maybe they feel threatened by it. That's probably why the company isn't developing new drugs but just finding new uses for existing ones.
I work in a therapeutic area. I already knew the hiring manager from grad school since he worked with my PhD advisor. He was aware I was looking for a job and we chatted. It seemed promising. I was asked to give a talk, then had a second interview with more people. An offer came quickly after that.
Applied online and then got a phone interview from the research director at Amgen, San Francisco about 4 weeks later. When I asked about the time to wait for the response of on-site interview, he said no specific time course was scheduled. I have not get any response yet.
