AMF Bowling General Manager interviews, decoded.

Started with a phone screening from HR, then had a phone interview and screening with the district manager. After that, I had an in-person interview at the center with the General Manager and District Manager, which included a tour of the facility.

I went through 5 interviews, starting with the chief recruiter and ending with the CEO. The CEO interview was via Skype and was very brief, maybe 5 minutes. The area manager phone interview was also short. All the questions asked by direct hire came from a set list, and they weren't too hard.

First, I had a 45-minute phone chat with an HR person. It was pretty standard, mostly about my leadership approach and how I handle problems. Then, about a week later, I met with the DM and another General Manager. They asked typical questions about my past jobs and what I think about the bowling business. This was back in 2007, and the company's different now with new owners.
