American Family Insurance Agent interviews, decoded.

You have several interviews and an assessment, plus in-the-field experience to see if you like it. It was thorough. First, a meeting with the district manager. Then, an online assessment. After that, you make a list of 100 friends and family you'll talk to. Next, visit an AmFam agency. Lastly, a group interview with the state manager and district manager.

I'd say the interview process was lengthy. The agent I was working with, who was getting promoted, picked me to take over his role. I had already been working with him as his newspaper rep for the local paper, and he thought I had the right skills and abilities to replace him. I stepped into the role and was very successful, moving the agency to a new office and increasing the policy count. Unfortunately, I had to return the business to my district manager because I was going through a difficult divorce that required my children and me to live in a women's shelter. This reflects my overall experience running the agency for three and a half years.

It was a long process, with about three to four interviews in total.
