At AEP, we use the STAR method. Typically, you'll meet with a panel of associates from different departments. The hiring manager usually doesn't join the first interviews, but might in the second round, which could be in-person.
A recruiter initially called me to schedule a 1-on-1 interview with the hiring manager. A few days after that interview, I got another call to set up a panel interview. This panel interview involved meeting with 6 different people from the company. The interviews focused on my experience with the specific applications and processes needed for the role. It wasn't a STAR method interview, which was a nice change.
It was a one day interview with several people from different departments. It took about 3 hours. Each department asked questions about my experience and if I was a good fit for the job. Then they gave feedback.
