Alloy (NY) Software Engineer interviews, decoded.

It was a pretty standard process. You pretty much know what to expect. Everyone was super nice, but don't take everything they say to heart. After the final in-person interview, which was about 4 hours long, they said I'd hear back the next day. It actually took them 2 weeks, and they kept saying I was a really strong candidate, but then they rejected me after pushing their deadline back multiple times.

The interview process started with a recruiter screen, followed by a technical screen. The tech screen involved a set of questions designed to assess my ability to work with recursion on nested dictionaries, specifically for editing and extracting data. Despite meeting nice people throughout the process, I experienced ghosting after the technical screen with no rejection or follow-up, which was a poor candidate experience.

We started with an intro call, then had a virtual coding session, followed by an onsite interview. During the onsite, I met with the hiring manager, some engineers on the team, and other folks from the org. I was ready to talk about my resume, how I work, lots of behavioral stuff, and some engineering-level questions.
