Alaska Airlines Project Manager interviews, decoded.

It's a very relational interview process, focusing more on culture fit than anything else. Technical skills matter, but for entry-level roles, they think they can train the necessary skills, but can't train for culture fit.

I was contacted initially and then interviewed in person at their south Seattle office. It was a panel interview onsite. I heard the hiring manager was really picky, but they liked me. They felt I didn't have enough personal ownership, which I disagree with because I see Project Managers as team leaders.

I applied online and then got a call a few days later from their recruiting coordinator. She set up a phone interview for me with a senior recruiter. After that, they asked me to do a 'charter test'. They said I'd get an email the next day with instructions. The test is basically to write a fake project charter document. They give you project info and a template to fill out. I had an hour to finish the charter template and then emailed it back. That's as far as I've gotten so far; I sent a follow-up but haven't heard back about what's next.
