The recruiter was really irresponsible. I’m a visual designer but I had to go through two rounds of interviews with UX designers, and then she just disappeared. After I asked about the interview structure and my background, she didn’t answer or apologize. It’s a bad recruiting process, and AKQA lets incompetent people recruit talent, which is a shame.
I applied on their website. The first step was a short 10-15 minute phone chat. After that, I had an on-site interview with an Associate Creative Director where we talked more about my work, my interests, and how I tackled problems on past projects.
The interview process started with a phone call involving both HR and the Hiring Manager. This was followed by an in-person interview. Ultimately, the company selected another candidate who had Advertising/Marketing experience. I later learned the position was still open, and the job description never specified Advertising experience as a requirement. It seems my resume wasn't properly reviewed, as it clearly indicated my lack of Advertising industry experience. I should have researched the company's reputation on Glassdoor beforehand. It felt like a 'boys club' where you need to fit a specific mold to get hired, and dishonesty seems common there.
