A recruiter reached out about a user research-like role. I had two phone screenings and an in-person interview. There was a long silence, then they told me they weren't sure where the role fit and decided not to hire for it. However, they wanted to see if I could be a fit on the UX team. I then had another phone screen with someone from UX who had no record of my previous interviews or resume. It felt unprofessional and like they have trouble hiring people with non-traditional backgrounds.
Had two phone interviews, then an onsite interview. The onsite had a team presentation with 6 one-on-one interviews. It also included two rounds of culture interviews, two rounds of skill interviews, and two rounds of collaboration interviews.
A recruiter contacted me about the role. It might have been late in their hiring timeline, as the position was filled shortly after my initial interview.
