The recruiter contacted me online saying I was a good fit for the role, and I sent my resume. The recruiter then messaged me Friday afternoon requesting a phone interview 3 hours later. It was a ridiculous time, but I granted her anyway. On the phone, I found out the position was actually in San Francisco, not New York. The data scientist role is about customer service, talking to clients, and some data analysis. After the call, I concluded this start-up is clueless and just wanted to talk to prospective candidates to get a feel of the market. My advice: don't feed these trolls and let them get lost!
There were a few interviews that focused on my personality and my skills. They asked me about my strengths and weaknesses, and what I think is needed to work at AgilOne. Then I had to answer some questions about code and statistics. For the next step, I was given datasets to analyze and then I had to present my findings and interpretations to a data scientist.
I had a phone interview and then a one week project. The phone interview was mainly about going over my resume and they explained the company and the job. For the project, they gave me some data and asked me to find insights. I presented my findings via video conference. The next step was supposed to be in-person, but I didn't move forward.
