So, even though I have an ECE background, the interview for this software position was really thorough. It kicked off with them asking about how my engineering education connects to software development. Then, we moved onto core Data Structures and Algorithms and a deep dive into my projects from my resume. The whole thing wrapped up with some HR-type questions about my future career ambitions and how I see myself contributing to the company's growth.
The interview happened face-to-face at their office. It was a mix of HR and technical stuff. First, they asked me to talk about myself, my education, and why I wanted to switch to being a data analyst. Then, they hit me with technical questions, mostly about Excel. They asked about things like VLOOKUP, sorting, filtering, pivot tables, and how to analyze data.
A consultant initially reached out, followed by three interview rounds with the company: the first with the hiring manager, the second with an L2 manager, and the third with HR. After these, an offer was made. The conversations mainly focused on my previous work experience.
