This was a mock interview, mainly focusing on questions about my projects and resume. They specifically asked about skills I listed, questioning why I included those for which I only had certification and hadn't gained practical experience.
The first round involves 30 aptitude questions covering math, networking, and AWS, plus technical MCQs. It also includes 2 coding questions, one for MySQL and one for MS SQL, and 2 subjective programming questions where you have to write an algorithm for a given scenario.
I was contacted via Hired.com by a recruiter working for Acrisure. The first interview was a phone screen, which started ten minutes late. The recruiter wanted to know about my Java and Kotlin experience. I explained my background with Java, Kotlin (especially on the JVM), and my six to ten years of experience with the JVM. The recruiter didn't seem to understand how Kotlin relates to Java or Android. They ended the interview, thinking I didn't have enough Java experience. This was confusing because I felt I had enough experience for the hiring manager, and the recruiter didn't try to figure out if I had specific Java ecosystem experience needed for the role.
