Candidate-reported interview process

The interview began with a recruiter screening where they asked about my work experience, my design process, my inspirations, and why I was interested in Abercrombie. Next, I had a more laid-back chat with the Art Director about my portfolio and I got to ask a lot of questions. After that, I was given an unpaid design project, which involved creating 5 t-shirt illustrations and 3 fleece designs. I put a lot of effort into it because I felt good about the interviews. However, after submitting the project, I waited 5 weeks for a generic rejection email. It felt like a waste of time and effort.

It was a really smooth interview process and I got a quick response from them. While the job wasn't really what I was looking for, the interview experience itself was very good.

The interview process was really involved. I had like 3 initial interviews with the recruiter. Then I met with a few more higher ups. Then we had to design an entire collection, which took me about 2 weeks to do. We then had a full weekend of interviews that lasted 2 days. It was rounds of interviews, we did it as a group with the recruiters then broke off to do individual interviews. I also had to answer questions/ do recordings of myself to answer questions. We had to share our project with the different people we were doing interviews with/ go over our portfolio. It was very involved. Sadly, I did not receive an offer in the end.
