Candidate-reported interview process

I had two interviews for a copywriter role. The recruiter interview went okay, but the direct manager interview was not great. They made the copywriter environment seem overly competitive and weren't transparent about their culture. For a company that talks about health and caring for parents, their covid procedure was non-existent. They also struggled to answer my questions and explain why they didn't hire me even though they said I was a good fit. It felt like a gaslighting experience.

The hiring process was quick and communication was great. I went through 3 interview rounds. They felt casual and helpful. They were focused on team fit and asked about recent books I've read.

It was a 4 stage interview process: HR, direct report, team manager, and division leader. The questions were quick and simple, and the vibe was pretty informal. They were hiring a lot at the time, so maybe that's why it was like that.
