The initial phone interview was pretty straightforward. I was at a point where I didn't want just any job and was looking for a culture fit, so I had more questions for them about turnover rates, etc. Based on their answers, I did not wish to proceed with the interview process, although they did send me a follow-up and asked that I provide them a sample pitch as 'next steps' in the interview process.
They had me do a take-home assignment first where I had to create a mock-up of a Facebook post for a fake client. It was pretty easy. After they saw my work, I got a call from 1SEO to set up a phone interview. This call was more of a chill chat about the company, their values, and the kind of people they hire, not really an interrogation. Then, I went in for an in-person interview. I met a bunch of nice people in the office and also talked with two people from the team I'd be joining. The questions were tough but fair, nothing I wouldn't expect to know. I got an offer the next day and started the onboarding. All in all, it felt fair, pleasant, and respectful of my time.
So the way it worked was, first there was a phone interview, then I had to send in a writing sample, and after that, there were two in person interviews. The first one was with the Director of Content and Social Media and one of his people. The second one was with the head of Operations. It felt like a good mix of regular and unusual questions, and the interviewers were pretty chill, made it feel like a conversation.
