It began with a recruiter chat to go over basics like your knowledge of 10x genomics, your job search motivations, and relocation willingness. If that went well, there was a technical interview with the hiring manager. For this specific role, they dove deep into concurrency and multithreading, expecting detailed explanations on how std::mutex and std::atomic function internally. You'll also face C++ questions covering smart pointers, RAII, and design patterns, along with a coding challenge, such as implementing a circular buffer.
The interview process was pretty standard, it took about 45 minutes for a presentation, then an hour for coding, an hour for system design, and 1.5 hours for behavioral questions. Each person on the team had a very specific role related to a part of the instrument.
It was a simple interview process - first, I talked with the hiring manager about my resume and past experiences. Then, there was a technical round where we discussed automating the deployment process. Since I have more experience in building microservices, it turned out the role wasn't a good fit.
