First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Zynga.
Game Designer
The interview process was pleasant, and I felt heard. The environment and reception were great, and scheduling was good. We ended up having a tour in the building and saw sections with great people to work with.

I chatted with Zynga about three months back. A recruiter gave me a ring first, they were super nice and easy to talk to. I brought up my visa status during the call (big mistake!), and they mentioned needing to check if hiring me was even possible before we got too ahead of ourselves. Anyway, I ended up getting a second interview a week later, another phone call. This time it was with a designer on the team. They're looking to hire someone ASAP. It was a tough one, and they really dug deep into some design questions.
- Tell me about your experience with puzzle design.
- Which mobile games do you play?
- Why do you play those specific mobile games?
Game Designer
I had two interviews. First, a recruiter called me. Then, I had a Skype interview with two people from San Francisco. It was weird because the recruiter and the interviewers weren't on the same page. The job ad and what the recruiter said didn't mention that they were looking for someone to sort of lead, but that came up later. This felt like a big waste of my time and made me think they didn't even read my resume. Also, it felt like the interviewers didn't really know what to ask, they'd just ask random questions that didn't connect to what I just said.
- What's your process for game design?
