The interview at Zumtobel had two rounds. First, I talked with HR and the department head about my background and motivation. Then, I gave a presentation on a case study and had a follow-up technical discussion with management.

Behavioral

The interview process started with a phone call that began with the question: "why do you think you have been unemployed for so long?". I was also driving at the time and after several hints, there was no reaction, and the HR person blatantly bombarded me with her shallow platitudes. The position was advertised as Project Manager, but the HR person kept talking about Product Manager. I pointed this out to her, and she said yes, it is Project Manager. However, it became clear during the conversation that she herself did not quite know what the advertisement was about. At the end of the conversation, she informed me that they wanted someone with a technical background (not necessary if I follow her description). The question is why did this person bombard me during my drive with shallow HR questions from the internet when my CV and application clearly state that I do not have a "technical" background. (Technical is a toaster, building a table, a mobile phone, a bomb, etc., very general)

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Could you explain why you've been unemployed for an extended period and what you've been doing during that time?
  • What makes you believe you are the right person for this position?
  • Are you an Austrian citizen?
