Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process kicked off with a call with the CEO to gauge fit in terms of experience and personality. This was followed by a second interview with the tech team, during which I presented and explained a project, using screen sharing for my browser and VSCode. Although I was keen on the company, the project presentation felt a bit rushed as the CEO inquired about my questions shortly after I finished, especially since they had already asked this in the first interview and I hadn't prepared many. I attempted to improvise questions, but I'm unsure if it came across well. I was informed I'd likely hear back within one to two weeks. I sent a thank-you email that evening, and surprisingly, received a rejection the next day. The final stage, had I proceeded, would have been an in-person interview in California.

Behavioral

The interview process at Zumasys was great! I was offered something to drink by every employee who walked by me, which I thought was pretty awesome. My first interview was with the COO and it went really well, lasting about an hour. I was called back for a second interview the following week with the VP and the Manager of the department, which also lasted about an hour. After my interviews I left with a big smile and a feeling of accomplishment. The people at Zumasys really want to get to know you as a person and are looking for people who work hard, want to grow, and strive for greatness. A positive and energetic attitude can go a long way. I was just happy to be there and have the rare opportunity to interview for such an amazing company, and I guess that vibe reflected in my interview.

Had two chats with senior management. They were super nice, friendly, and made me feel really comfortable. We clicked right away. They asked a bit about tech, but since I've been around the block, it was more about seeing if we'd be a good fit culture-wise, and we were.

They conducted a 5-round interview process. I met with the hiring manager, COO, marketing team, accounting team, CEO, and the person who previously held the front desk position. A few meetings were held at the Irvine Office, and one casual meeting took place at Starbucks. They are very thorough in their hiring process, taking their time to ensure they find the best candidate. The whole experience, from the initial interview to receiving an offer, spanned 5 weeks.
