Technical Behavioral

The interview process started with a recruiter screen, followed by a call with the hiring manager, and then a technical interview with a Principal SE. After that, there was a week of silence, and then I got rejected via voicemail for not being technical enough. On the plus side, the technical interviewer knew the products well and the territory looked like it had real potential. But there were some red flags, like the recruiter and hiring manager giving different reasons for the opening, and the hiring manager mentioning an 'advanced candidate in process' while promising a 'fair evaluation.' Communication was poor; after the technical interview, I heard nothing for a week, and the recruiter's voicemail about not being 'technical enough' lacked specific feedback. The technical assessment felt questionable, covering basic DNS and HTTP versions instead of actual sales engineering scenarios, despite my extensive experience. They emphasized training and tribal knowledge but then rejected candidates for not knowing their product details. I wouldn't recommend interviewing here unless you're desperate, as the lack of transparency and poor communication might indicate bigger organizational problems.

Presentation Technical Behavioral

It was a pretty straightforward process, and everyone I interacted with was friendly and communicated well. After an initial interview, I was asked to prepare a presentation for a panel interview. The panel interview itself was quite something, honestly. The panel members were condescending and arrogant, to the point where I seriously considered just walking out, but I stuck it out because of good manners. They didn't even ask me to present what I prepared. Two of them left midway through. The technical question they asked was easy given my experience, but one person seemed surprised by the detailed answer I provided. To top it all off, they asked me to do a sales pitch. At that point, I thought 'you've got to be kidding me' and just played along with their strange power dynamics. Honestly, I'm glad I wasn't selected for the final interview and ended up staying away from Zscaler.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

This was one of the most challenging but rewarding interview processes I've been through. Zscaler is really looking for top talent that will fit their current culture and who are genuinely excited to work there and believe in their vision. The interview has several steps: first, a meeting with a recruiter, then a meeting with the hiring manager. After that, there's a tech screen covering HTTP, networking, and security topics. Finally, a panel interview where I had to do an "about me" presentation, talk about a deal I won, and do a sales roleplay. They provide you with what you need to succeed for the tech screen and panel interview, and the Zscaler team communicated a lot throughout the whole process. Honestly, one of the best interview experiences I've had.
