So, I went through a 3-round interview process. First was an online test, which lasted for an hour and had 29 MCQs and 4 coding problems. I remember two of the coding questions were about finding the smallest difference in continuous numbers and checking bracket sequences. Then came the technical interview. I didn't make it past this round because, even though I answered all the questions, the interviewer felt I wasn't a good fit, coming from a DSA background.

I got a message on LinkedIn from the recruiter. Then there was a call with the hiring manager, followed by a panel interview with 5 team members, including the hiring manager. The interview wrapped up an hour early because two engineers were out. The hiring manager was pretty cool, mainly trying to get info out of me in any way he could. It was one of the better interview experiences I've had lately. Interviewer 1, who seemed middle-aged, was really into HTTP, asking about its versions, headers, request/response header formats, and anything else HTTP-related. I couldn't answer most of his questions and didn't get why he was so focused on HTTP; he didn't ask anything else. Interviewer 2, joining remotely, also started with HTTP questions. He mentioned TRACEROUTE uses ICMP, but I think he needs to brush up on networking; it actually uses UDP on Linux and ICMP on Windows. Interviewer 3, a more decent guy, asked about Postman again, and also about IPSec and other methods. The whole interview seemed more about how a competitor handled issues compared to how I did, rather than my actual knowledge or role. There were no programming questions at all, no focus on automation, and I didn't even write an IF statement.

First, there was a Hackerrank test with 15 networking MCQs, 5 logical reasoning questions, 4 coding questions (mostly needing dynamic programming logic), and 5 data structures MCQs. No negative marking. After that, there was a Technical Interview 1, then Technical Interview 2, and finally an HR Interview. The second technical interview mainly focused on networking basics.

  • Tell me about yourself, not from your resume.
  • Regarding networking, what is swap space and how is it allocated?
