We started with a technical screening by the recruiter, then a technical round with a Software Engineer. After that, I had a systems design interview with a Senior Software Engineer. The on-site interviews were virtual and included a technical round, a systems design discussion, and a walkthrough of a past project. Finally, there was a cultural fit call with a Senior Manager. I also went through a background check.

Presentation Behavioral Coding Technical

I had a recruiter screen first. Then I gave a presentation on my past work. After that, I was asked to describe a problem or conflict I faced in past work, and then I did some coding for a basic data structure. Then there was a discussion about state machines for electromechanical systems, and an analysis of numerical and cognitive problems. Finally, we talked about embedded software architecture for example systems.

I applied through their portal with a cold application. A recruiter reached out and asked me to complete an online assessment. Once I finished the assessment, here's what happened: I had a 30-minute chat with a recruiter about my background, experience, and why I wanted to work at Zoox. Then came the technical interviews: The first round was trivia and programming, focusing on CS fundamentals and Python. The second round was about backend system design, where I had to design scalable systems. The final round was behavioral questions.
