The team was super involved and made for a really positive candidate experience. They knew a lot about the company and the compensation was great. I also liked that they offered both remote and in-person interview options.

Started with a phone screen with a recruiter, then went to an onsite interview that had 6 separate 30-minute interviews. Each interview focused on a different topic: meeting with the hiring manager, meeting with the Sr. Manager of TA, a math test, a mock intake meeting, a mock offer negotiation, and a deep dive into 1-2 tech roles you've recruited for, SDLC lifecycle, frameworks, etc. It was a fast process which was nice, but some parts felt like overkill, like the math interview and the technical deep dive. Some interviewers rushed and didn't allow much conversation, making it hard to evaluate the company. The process seemed modeled after SWE roles and not ideal for TA.

Behavioral Technical

It was a long and repetitive interview process that took about 6 weeks. I met with multiple leaders who mostly asked the same questions, so it felt like the same interview about 4-5 times for 30 minutes each. I was told by 3 different leaders (including the HM) that they were working on an offer. Then, the day Amazon announced a hiring freeze and layoffs, the HM called to assure me it wouldn't impact Zoox and that the offer letter would come that day. Two days later, I hadn't heard anything, so I reached out to the recruiter. They responded immediately and called to say they changed their minds about the location – it would be Foster City, not San Diego. It was unprofessional to go through such an extensive process, conduct reference calls, and be told multiple times by multiple people that an offer was coming, only to back out and blame the location.
