The hiring process was a bit slow but manageable. I completed all the virtual interviews, then had a long 5-hour onsite interview session. Although the experience itself wasn't ideal, the interviewers were pleasant and well-prepared. After that, I did a live presentation and then had two more follow-up interviews. Unfortunately, after all that, I was ghosted. When I reached out to the recruiter, I received a generic rejection email. I even sent a thank-you note asking for feedback, but heard nothing back. Overall, the experience was okay, but completely ghosting candidates after six weeks of interviews and presentations is pretty unacceptable. I was really interested in the position, but honestly, I don't think I'll be applying to any other roles at Zoox after this.

What an insanely long and convoluted interview process! Lots of back-and-forth with the recruiter, then 1 hiring manager interview, followed by 4 individual interviews, then an onsite visit, the most ridiculous riddle/puzzle/logic-based test, AND a new presentation (that you have to create) to a dozen employees. It's an extreme lack of respect for the candidate's time and in retrospect, I don't know why I kept continuing with the process. While I doubt this is the norm for Zoox, my hiring manager was 15 minutes late for our chat, appeared extremely disinterested and unprepared, and spent most of the interview asking me to describe the details of my previous role's organizational hierarchy. It was by far the wackiest interview process of my entire career.

It was a long and unorganized process that went on for over six weeks, from when the recruiter first reached out to the final decision. While the people I met were super friendly and enthusiastic, the actual process was messy. They asked me at the last minute to prepare a presentation for a panel, and my interview schedule kept getting changed around. It was a pleasure talking to all six interviewers, though. Only one interviewer was over five minutes late, and she also had to leave early. Still, when you're interviewing online, it's pretty common to just get totally ghosted. I hope Zoox can sort out their interview process because it seems like a great place to work.
