First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Zoox.
Mechanical Design Engineer
First round was a technical grilling on resume stuff, focusing heavily on my projects. I had to know them inside and out. It was super rushed and the interviewer was tough, and I didn't get past this stage.
- Can you define Quasi static loading?
- Regarding your Chassis project, what load cases are needed for FEA?
Mechanical Design Engineer
So there were like 3 rounds in total. First up was a 45 min chat with the hiring manager. Then I had a half day onsite with 6 interviews, plus a 45 min technical presentation. After getting good vibes from the onsite, I had a quick 30 min call with the VP. Everyone I spoke with was super professional and nice, it felt more like a chat than an interrogation. The questions were engaging and interactive. I really liked the hiring manager, the team, and the work itself. The offer was also pretty competitive for a startup, but I turned it down because I got a better offer elsewhere, though it was a tough call.
- What is a technical challenge you'd want to tackle if you had infinite resources and no limitations?
Mechanical Engineer Intern
It was a really good interview process. I got to speak with many members of the team, and overall, they were all very nice. The main things they looked for were your understanding of the company and your core engineering knowledge. I'm just trying to get to the 30-word minimum.
- Can you explain methods to decrease beam deflection?
