The interview was okay. It felt a bit long, but a lot of that time was spent just explaining the internship. The questions asked were straightforward, with no tricky ones. In summary, the interview was relatively easy and not too stressful.

It was a really straightforward process. I was asked about five quick questions, mainly about my favorite animal and why I'd want to work in that specific department. The interviewer was super friendly and relaxed. The email I got didn't even mention an interview, so I wasn't ready at all, but she was cool about it and offered me the job right there and then.

First, the VP of Education will probably call you for a phone chat to see how you answer basic questions about your preschool experience, handling workplace conflict, and your understanding of classroom privacy. After that, you'll be invited for a one-hour working interview. You'll spend time in a classroom with a lead teacher to show your skills. Your performance will be reported to their supervisor, and not impressing them means you won't move forward. The Zoo School wants a team that collaborates, respects each other, and contributes well. So, be engaged during this part – interact with the kids, ask questions, and get to know your potential colleagues. They want to see who you are and if you'd fit in before giving a 'thumbs up'. It's not overly difficult but does require your effort. If you pass this stage, you'll have a formal interview with the VP and maybe some other teachers. They'll ask standard questions and genuinely consider your answers. When asked about your preferred hours, avoid saying you only want part-time or specific weekdays off. Remember, it's a preschool open 7 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday to Friday, and your availability needs to cover these times.

There were quite a few in-depth questions to assess my experience in the field and how I might deal with different scenarios involving animals, guests, and colleagues. The interviewer was really nice and open about their own experiences working there, which was great.
