I put in my application through Glassdoor. About two weeks after, I got an email and had a Microsoft Teams interview. It was great, the interviewer told me a lot about the zoo's culture and why learning and development is important.

The interview took place over Zoom with two interviewers. One interviewer joined only by audio. They were both nice, punctual, and seemed enthusiastic about their work. I was hoping for an in-person meeting since I live in Atlanta and it would have been easy to travel, but I felt I didn't get a real sense of the team, the work environment, or how the departments are organized. While some of the job involves broadcasting lessons via video, a lot of it is in-person. There were moments during the interview where I wasn't sure if the pauses were on my end or theirs. Also, I have some home distractions, like pet birds and neighbors, that are hard to control and made it difficult for me to feel relaxed. At this time, I don't have many options for alternative interview setups.

The interview process was quite lengthy, but they maintained excellent communication and were responsive at all times. All the people I interacted with were pleasant and professional. While it made sense for supervisors and direct reports to be involved, there was also a significant number of coworkers participating.

The interview process was really easy and made me feel comfortable. We spent a good amount of time discussing my past experience working with kids and how I'd deal with any conflicts that might pop up between them. They also asked about other aspects of working at a camp, like being the go-between for parents and how I felt about that role.
