I interviewed for a VP of Brand role and went through three rounds of interviews, speaking with the HR recruiter, the CFO, and the Head of HR (who they call the CHRO). Notice anything missing? At no point did I meet with anyone from the Marketing team. For a senior leadership marketing role, that was a huge red flag. My impression is that there wasn’t actually a senior marketing leader in place to speak with — the team appears to be in real disarray. What I did get was a lot of HR people trying to speak as if they were marketing experts. It came across as unorganized and disconnected from what the business actually needs. After three rounds, the company ghosted me completely — no follow-up, no closure, nothing. That says a lot about how they operate. They even told me directly that they lost about 60% of staff when they required return-to-office. Based on my experience, it’s clear the ramp back to being fully functional hasn’t happened. If you’re considering interviewing here, know that you may be wasting your time. The lack of professionalism, organization, and transparency speaks volumes about how the company is run.

Applied and I was contacted immediately for a screening interview. I had prepared a lot for the interview. However, I was contacted 12 minutes before the interview stating that they would be moving forward with other candidates who were in the final stages. This is extremely unprofessional. Candidates invest significant time in preparing and scheduling interviews. Canceling at the very last minute shows a serious lack of respect for their time.

After submitting my resume, I had a phone interview. The questions asked were all related to the position. Because I was applying for an educator position, she inquired about times in my career where I had functioned in that capacity, even though I didn't have the exact job title listed. I was a recent graduate with a bachelor's degree and had been a TA for one semester, but otherwise, I had minimal prior job experience as an educator. However, I pointed out that as a mother, I was essentially educating daily. Furthermore, as a Licensed Esthetician for over a decade, I possessed product knowledge far exceeding that of any other candidate, I'm sure. Educating others about something you're passionate about and knowledgeable in isn't difficult or really 'work'. She wasn't interested in my actual skincare experience, despite the fact that I educated clients daily on treatments, products, their ingredients, and proper usage as part of my esthetician role. She then explained the job's intense travel schedule, which wasn't clearly detailed in the job posting. She was very direct about the travel being a challenging aspect, implying it would be extremely demanding. I realized I didn't want to travel four days a week, especially with a husband and teenage son at home. I wish I had known this upfront.

I had three interviews. The first one was with the Director of Marketing. Then I met with the VP of Global Marketing. HR was the last interview. They offered me a role they made up for me, even though I applied for Digital Marketing Manager.
