Creative Designer
I saw an opening for a creative design position at Zimmerman and did some research on their creatives. After that, I sent in my resume and was quickly contacted by the VP of Creative Services. We had a good initial conversation, and I thought my experience, client work, and background were a good fit for the role. However, things seemed to turn when the interviewer asked about my digital experience. I followed up with a thank you email and a status update request. The next day, I heard back that the VP felt I lacked sufficient experience and wasn't as knowledgeable in digital, even though that wasn't a stated requirement. While I disagree and felt other, less creative individuals were hired, I decided to look elsewhere. The VP did offer to stay in touch for future roles that might be a better fit.
- What is your experience with digital design?
Creative Designer
It went okay. They were very outgoing and really put a whole show on for you. They had a driver pick me up and drive me to the office which was nice. The interview itself was really easy, they made it seem much more difficult to get a job there than it actually is.
- Tell me about your greatest weaknesses.
Graphic Designer
The interview process started with a phone interview, which was mostly conversational. Then, we had a video part where we had to make something, which was a fun and interesting twist on the usual interview poses. Overall, it was a great experience.
- Can you share a time when you did something for the first time?
