Had a couple of phone interviews, and then an in-person onsite interview. Everyone was nice, and the interview was mainly behavioral. I met with a panel of 5 people. The range of titles of the people who interviewed me was good and allowed me to see different areas of business.

So there were some questions about past jobs and experience. Then there was a live test with two parts: one was to find bugs in some code, and the other was to write some specific code. The test wasn't super hard.

Applied online. Then I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. After that, I was invited for an in-person interview, where I met with a bunch of engineering managers, directors, the hiring manager, and leads from other departments. It was a good interview experience, where they mostly asked about my background and work experience. There were also a few questions about design controls, but it was pretty easy since I have a few years of experience in the medical device industry. Overall, the interview went very well. I also got to have lunch with the team of engineers, and they were all really personable. It seemed like they were looking for someone to lead a project and had experience in the medical device field, which felt like a great fit for me. However, when HR made the offer, it was surprisingly low – about 20k less than I was making. I tried to negotiate by explaining my current salary and my understanding of the job responsibilities. They said the offer was the maximum for the position, which was disappointing because that could have been communicated much earlier. From what I've seen, Zimmer Biomet seems to be offering lower salaries for new hires lately, which isn't very competitive.
