First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ZIM Integrated Shipping Services.
Operations Analyst
I had one in-person interview with two team members from Global Operations. They asked me about my studies and my experience with Excel, and also about my general understanding of KPI analysis and BI tools. It was a professional and respectful atmosphere, and the questions were mostly practical. Even though I wasn't selected, I appreciated the opportunity.
- Could you walk me through an example from a university project where you utilized Excel for analyzing production line data, and how you proposed process improvements that boosted efficiency?
- In that project, how did you go about conducting the analysis?
- And how did you present your findings and insights to the team?
Customer Service Assistant Junior
The HR team kept in touch with me throughout the whole process. I made it to the third and final stage. It was the same old story: HR didn't pass along a message to give feedback, whether positive or negative. I sent messages asking about it and got no response. We were left in anxiety waiting for a reply, but nothing. Even if it's a negative response, I think it's important to give that feedback to someone who is waiting.
- Tell me about your professional experience.
- What is your age?
- What is your educational background?
Account Trainee
I recently went through an interview process with Lagos And Niger Shipping Agencies Ltd for a position. I was welcomed warmly and learned about the company and its values. I spoke with the Assistant Human Resource Manager and the Head of Accounts. They asked me questions about the role and my experience, and I was able to share my confidence and past work in accounts. I'm now waiting to hear back to finalize my application and hopefully start working there.
- What would you do if your boss assigned you a task you'd never done before?
Software Architect
I was initially contacted by Jenrick Technology, an external HR firm. The interview lasted an hour and was with the company's solution architect. We had a good rapport, and I enjoyed the discussion. We delved into several topics, debating industry best practices for specific scenarios. It was an intellectually stimulating conversation, and I felt a good connection. The solution architect indicated interest in further interviews and expected to follow up in a few days. After about a week with no contact, I reached out to Jenrick Technology for an update. Unfortunately, I haven't heard back from them since, and it's been about a month.
- What are your thoughts on testing pyramids?
- Can you discuss design patterns?
- What is your experience with distributed systems?
