I was contacted by a recruiter. I had 3 interviews with her that were straightforward and pleasant. The final interview was with the territory manager, which was about 30 minutes and straightforward. Overall, I enjoyed the interview process. I was impressed with everyone as they were extremely professional.

First talked to a recruiter at Zep who didn't seem to know much about the company. Then had a phone interview with the RSM, and also talked to someone else in another state over the phone. That person wasn't very organized. The RSM was pretty new and missed some steps in the standard operating procedure. Had two in-person interviews that were each about 1.5 hours long. The whole process took over two months. We discussed compensation, but it changed a lot over the next few weeks. The salary is really low, especially for experienced folks. They say one thing but expect something totally different. The job requires 25 cold calls a day to sell soaps and hand cleaners to businesses like tire shops. If you don't inherit an existing customer base, you'll struggle financially. If you can build a customer base, you might do okay. Lots of reps have been there for a long time, if they can survive.

I talked to a recruiter first, and then the Regional Manager. The recruiter interview was fine, but they didn't seem to know much about the company. The chat with the Regional Manager was rough. He was really self-centered and clearly not a good manager. It felt like the company was disorganized, asking me to decide on the spot what product category I was interested in, even though the job posting was specific. I was really let down by the manager's lack of professionalism and how he couldn't answer what seemed like simple questions. For instance, I asked the recruiter about a specific benefit, and they didn't know. Then I asked the manager the same thing, and he also had no clue, just giving me a vague response. The recruiter call was about 20 minutes and scheduled, but the manager just called out of the blue expecting me to be free for an hour.
