Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Zenefits.
Product Manager
There were about 5-7 rounds total, which took nearly a month, and that was the tiring part. But the interview process itself was engaging; the interviewers were friendly and made sure the environment was comfortable. Everything else was good, and they were quick to answer any questions I had.
- Tell me about your deliverables from your last role that align with this position.
- Can you give an example of a situation related to managing stakeholders?
- Describe a time you dealt with issues.
Product Manager
I had a few phone calls with the company representative. The scheduling and response times were not great. In one instance, I called and it seemed like the rep wasn't aware of our meeting. I had to remind them where we were in the conversation. When we did talk, it was good and the person was really knowledgeable and passionate. They told me they would chat with the hiring manager and get back to me. They never did. Not even a quick email after I followed up a few times. Very unprofessional and disrespectful, especially for an HR company.
- What are your general HR screening questions?
Product Manager
The interview process at Zenefits was excellent. The recruiter was transparent and provided fast feedback after each interview stage. The stages included a telephone interview with recruiting, a telephone interview with the hiring manager, individual on-site interviews with several team members, the SVP, and HR (which were a mix of face-to-face and video conference), a follow-up call with the hiring manager, and a final discussion with the recruiter and HR.
- The interview questions were pretty standard for the role.
- None of the questions were strange mind games or off base.
