Director of Events
I had a really rough time interviewing with Zelis for the Director of Events position. It was a long process with six interviews in total. After all that, Jessica and Erin did offer me the job. But before I could even accept, they put a ton of pressure on me to decide right away, no negotiation time given. They also made it clear there was no tuition reimbursement, which was a bummer for me. Feeling rushed and without options, I turned down the offer to look for something that fit my needs better. Sadly, right after I declined, my personal situation changed drastically due to an emergency. I thought the Zelis job would be a better fit now given the new circumstances. To my surprise, when I reached out to Zelis about reconsidering, they had already hired someone else through a recruiting agency and wouldn't budge, showing zero flexibility. This made me really doubt their 'Zelis Cares' thing. It's disappointing to see a company talk about caring for employees but then act so rigid and unfeeling, especially when someone is going through a tough time. I expected more understanding. I even tried talking to Melissa in leadership, but she couldn't do anything because a new person was already placed. So, yeah, my Zelis experience was a huge letdown. The lack of flexibility, the pressure to accept, and then not even considering my changed situation showed me a company culture that doesn't match what they claim. It wasn't what I expected from a potential employer, and I wanted to share this so others know what they might be getting into with Zelis.
- Can you tell me about some of the events you've organized in the past?
Director
This was a long interview process, with 5 separate interviews involving Directors, VPs, and the President/CEO. They seemed to prioritize industry experience and high-capacity candidates over just capability, likely because the last two people in this backfill role didn't last long.
- Describe your approach to building company culture.
- Can you share your experience with developing a strategic plan?
Director
The hiring process was straightforward with solid communication on next steps. The interviews were enjoyable and felt genuine. You could feel the energy and excitement from everyone I spoke with. The process really made me excited to join the company and contribute to the growth.
- Can you share your experience and thoughts regarding the company and the role?
- What is your approach to these kinds of challenges?
