First, we had an initial screening where we talked about your portfolio and experience. We also wanted to understand your design principles and tools, and discuss your expectations for the company and the role. Then, there was a portfolio review focusing on how you define problems and conduct user research. We looked at your wireframes, prototypes, and final designs, and how you approach usability testing and iteration. We also want to hear about the challenges and outcomes in your projects. Finally, a technical skills assessment to test your hands-on design and problem-solving abilities.

There were 2 interviews total, one with the contracting company and one with the on-site company. Overall, it wasn't stressful and went really smoothly. They went through my portfolio and asked a few questions. Since Zeiss has a design system, some of the questions were about working with one.

The interview process was multi-step and not well-handled. I went through 4 interviews, and in the final one, they told me the position was already filled. It was extremely frustrating. I will not apply to Zeiss again, regardless of their reputation.
