It was a lot of paperwork. Given a video cam interview with pretty easy questions. Once an offer was given, a lot more paper work was requested. This was generally a pain as the paper work requested was duplicates of official paperwork but notaries are not accepted in the UAE so the head of government agencies and regions etc had to sign off on all paperwork. The amount of documentation required to work at ZU or any government university is perplexing. Also beware as original copies are often not returned by various agencies or an employer. Employers also take advantage of the system requesting information that is non-standard or when leaving a position asking the employee to leave a month early etc etc to avoid paying out the contract or benefits so beware.

The initial online interview was recorded and felt pretty laid-back, letting me highlight my strengths. The department Chair seemed really supportive, and two other faculty members present were professional and encouraging. The second interview, however, left me uncertain about the direction of things, and I felt put on the spot, especially with an Associate Dean present. About seven weeks after the first interview, HR reached out to mention a compensation proposal would follow soon. It's been two more weeks, and I'm still waiting for that proposal while considering my options.

It was an online interview via Zoom. The committee had 5 faculty members. I had to give a 10-minute presentation first, then they started asking questions. They asked me to introduce myself at the beginning, and asked why I want this opportunity and what I will bring to the department. I was asked about my teaching philosophy and how to get students engaged in class. Some questions were also about my research.

The interview process was unorganized, and the HR staff who scheduled it was completely unprofessional and disorganized. I had to instruct her on next steps because she was clueless and could barely speak English. They wanted me to spend a lot of money to certify my degrees BEFORE they gave me an offer. The interview panel started arguing with each other while they were interviewing me.
