Behavioral Case Presentation

The interview process was quite long, spanning about four months and involving five distinct stages. Although I made it to the final round, the position was ultimately given to someone already working at the company. On a positive note, I really liked the recruiter and the team members, and communication was mostly good. The recruiter was always available to answer questions and provide support. Everyone seemed professional and nice. However, they initially said there wouldn't be a case study, but that changed right before the last stage. I prepared a case study in a week, only to find out the job went to an internal candidate familiar with Zalando's processes, which felt like a waste of time. I would have enjoyed working there, and the people I met confirmed that. Still, the whole experience was draining, and I'm not sure I'd do such a long and tough interview process again.

The interview process had a few parts. It kicked off with a recruiter chat, then a technical interview covering campaign strategy, performance metrics, and budget management. After that, I had to do a case study presentation and a final interview with some senior folks to see if I'd fit in culturally. They were pretty clear about things and it felt organized, even though it took a few weeks. Overall, it was a good amount of work but totally doable.

The first interview was quick and focused on my work history. The second interview with the hiring manager was a bit strange; they were quite late and then spent a significant amount of time talking about themselves and the company. When they did ask about my experience, they interrupted me multiple times due to time constraints, and even cut me off before I could fully answer their questions, stating they had another meeting. Despite this, I was later informed I wasn't a good fit. It felt disrespectful, and honestly, if time is that limited, perhaps a case study would be more appropriate than an interview.
