Business Development
It was a pretty standard interview process with a Skype/Google Hangouts call first, then an in-person interview. They said they'd cover my travel expenses, but I haven't heard back about that yet. It's wild that they'd make you fly internationally and then just ghost you with no feedback. The HR department seems really disorganized; I literally flew for 27 hours for the interview, and the HR person was an hour late because she forgot about our meeting, which is just not okay. After spending the whole day meeting with the team, I really wish I'd gotten some kind of response, whether it was a yes or a no. I ended up taking another job with a company that was way more responsive and actually seemed to value potential candidates. This company has a bad reputation for a good reason. I flew out there knowing I had other job offers, but the way they treated candidates here left a really negative impression. Honestly, save yourself the trouble and apply somewhere else.

Business Development Manager
After the initial HR screening, there were 2-3 more rounds. The first was with the manager where they asked standard questions about strengths and weaknesses, and behavioral questions about specific situations. It's a good idea to think about the company values and the role's goals when answering. The final round involved a presentation that you'd have 1-2 days to prepare for. You'd present for 5 minutes, followed by a discussion with the manager about your experience and interest in the position.
- What makes you want to take on this position, and what qualities make you a good fit for us?
- Suppose you're managing an agency partner who is failing to meet a key deliverable and is demanding additional payment. What's your approach to handling this scenario?
Business Development Manager
After a recruiter screening, which involved questions about my background and interest in Zalando, salary expectations, and notice period (we discussed relocation, which could take up to 3 months), the recruiter outlined the next steps, mentioning three more interviews. I felt the initial call went well and was anticipating the hiring manager interview, but unfortunately, I received a rejection email a few days later.
- Can you tell me about yourself and what motivates you to apply to Zalando?
- What are your salary expectations?
- What is your notice period at your current workplace?
