First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Zürcher Kantonalbank.
Business Project Manager
The interview process was well-structured and on time. Both HR and the line manager were present. They asked 'classic' HR questions, which in my opinion weren't always appropriate. The questions from the line manager were more fitting and they were able to answer my questions well.
- Can you describe the most challenging professional situation you've faced and how you handled it?
Accountant
First impression was generally good and professional. No rushing, they took time to get to know the person. The interview was with the department head and an HR specialist. Even with the rejection, it was clearly stated what didn't quite fit for them.
- Could you elaborate on how or where you had to particularly apply the quality mentioned in your cover letter?
Customer Service Representative
First, there's always a digital interview, meaning via Teams. Usually, your future team leader and some HR people are there. The questions were quite practical (e.g., How do you react when a customer is like this and that), on the other hand, they want to know if you find a quick solution (What was a problem with a customer that you easily solved to everyone's satisfaction. The in-person interview repeats this slightly, but afterwards, you have two more phone calls to make and give written feedback. The calls are about customer complaints and an urgent request. All in all, the questions were simple.
- How do you react when a customer gets loud on the phone?
- Why us as an employer?
- Give an example of when you showed a customer a quick solution to a problem.
Projektleiter
Quick response, three interviews in total across two dates, including a task related to the role. Got introduced to the team and a tour of the office during the second meeting. After acceptance, the contract was sent out quickly. The process was structured. What wasn't covered was the different job titles, ranks, etc. at the bank. If you're not familiar with these, you might sell yourself short without realizing it. It's very hard to correct that upwards once in a permanent role.
