I had a really negative experience and saw a lot of red flags, so I decided not to move forward with the hiring process. It just doesn't feel like an inclusive company for diverse people, especially disabled, neurodivergent, and older applicants. Here's what happened: Red flag #1, I emailed for info about a job application and was told corporate would reply, but they never did. Red flag #2, I applied at a virtual career fair and was emailed by person A for an interview. I told them I have disabilities and need reasonable accommodations. No reply, and person A ghosted me. I contacted person B, a higher-up, about it. Person B said they were swamped, which is why person A didn't respond, even though person A was posting on social media. Red flag #3, Person A and B insisted on a video interview so they could watch me to make sure no one was answering for me, but they don't do that for non-disabled people on phone interviews. Red flag #4, When I said those accommodations wouldn't work and explained why, person B was condescending and, knowing I'm neurodivergent, talked to me like I'm dumb and asked if I understood the change to the accommodation request. Red flag #5, For the first interview, I was supposed to get info via email, but I waited 15 minutes and no one contacted me, and they sent the info to the wrong email. Red flag #6, In follow-up questions, they challenged my software experience, saying the systems I mentioned didn't do what they needed, which is false. Red flag #7, I'm self-employed and listed that on my resume and applications. They wouldn't take references unless it was a supervisor. When I gave old supervisor references, they questioned it and wanted recent ones, which is hard since I'm self-employed. Red flag #8, They wanted specific client names and contracts, even after I said I couldn't share that due to confidentiality. My advice is to do better in recruiting and interviewing and stop creating barriers for disabled, neurodivergent, or older applicants.

The interview process went really well, and they were very upfront and honest. I enjoyed talking with them and appreciated the candidness they brought. Susie Fields was a pleasure to speak with and a great advocate for YRCI.

The interview was pleasant and relaxed. The questions asked were more personal in nature like how would you handle certain in-office situations, what do you think about X topic. The interviewers were very forthcoming and made me feel welcome and at ease.

Had a quick 1 on 1 chat, lasted about half an hour. Got referred by someone I know, so maybe that's why they didn't dig too deep into technical stuff or ask really hard questions.
