This was a really long and frankly, over-the-top interview process for a cool company that's trying to shake up the auto repair world. It kicked off with a phone chat with the hiring manager, who was super positive. Then came a take-home test that wasn't too tough, though that might depend on your background. After that, I had an in-person meeting with another team member and the Operations manager, where we talked a lot about marketing, social media, and content. Following that, I did a full-day, paid trial where I got free lunch but was given way more work than could reasonably be done in a day (they seemed surprised I actually finished it). The final stage was a Skype call with the CEO. He didn't seem prepared at all, hadn't even looked at my profile beforehand, and came across as really negative with a huge ego. He seemed fixated on GPA rather than actual relevant experience. While everyone else was great, he alone made me realize I wouldn't want to work there. I got good feedback from the team and things seemed positive, but I didn't get an offer, which honestly felt like a relief. My advice is to check out both the good and bad reviews on Glassdoor and don't get too swept up in the excitement of moving forward, because it's a huge time commitment. It's neat that they offer free lunch daily, but everyone is expected to work through it, which I did during the trial. That shouldn't be an expectation. Definitely pay attention to small details that could be red flags later on.

I applied online and got an email the next day to set up a phone interview. We did a little holiday chat, and then they jumped right into asking what questions I had for them. I had questions prepared, but it felt like a weird way to start. Then, they just went through my resume, asking things like my college GPA (I haven't thought about that in years), if I like math (weird), and if I've had conflict (a simple yes/no). Plus, there was a lot of background noise, so I had to ask them to repeat stuff a lot. I finished the interview still not sure what the job was about. It's been two weeks with no update, so I guess they're not interested, which is fine because I'm not either after that.

The phone screen was ridiculous. I scheduled a time with the interviewer and she started out the interview word-for-word with, "What do you want to know?". Next, there was extreme background noise which I feel is highly disrespectful for any interview. Lastly, she started asking me math questions that had no direct correlation to the position. Atrocious...

It wasn't a terrible interview but it did have an interesting technical question to test how quickly someone can think. I didn't see a set interview structure, but I bet they have one now.
