The interview process was pretty straightforward. Everyone I talked to was really nice. It involved 2 rounds and there were multiple interviewers. They asked me to introduce myself and then asked typical accounting interview questions. I ended up declining the internship because of where it was located.

The interview process was good. Lilly, the interviewer, was really sweet. The company should have mentioned in the job description that they don't offer sponsorship, instead of telling it during the interview.

I got contacted by a YHB recruiter in September because they saw my resume on the Virginia Tech job site. I accepted the interview and we met on campus, though I kinda wish I hadn't. When I got there, two YHB people started talking to me. I mentioned I wanted to get a Master's to hit 150 credits, and they told me I should just take random classes at a community college to get there since they don't care about the Master's. That was the first red flag, recruiters discouraging further education. It just got more awkward from there. The interviewer read from a paper and typed everything I said, seeming more focused on notes than talking to me and didn't make eye contact. I was so ready for it to be over that I didn't even ask questions. A few weeks later, the same recruiter emailed saying I made it to a final on-site interview. I replied politely declining and saying I wanted out. She then asked where I was interning, which made me uncomfortable, so I didn't answer. A week later, I got a voicemail from her asking if I'd seen her email about the final round since she hadn't heard from me and thought maybe it went to spam. I emailed AGAIN saying I wanted to be removed, attaching our previous chat where I'd said the same thing and she acknowledged it. She replied, 'Oh I guess I was hoping I did not see it.' I've never seen such unprofessionalism and hope YHB addresses this so other candidates don't have the same experience and they don't lose out on good talent.

Applied through LinkedIn. First, I had a phone screen with HR. Then, there were two in-person interviews which happened pretty fast after the phone screen. The first in-person was with an HR person and someone from the tech team. The second in-person was with the IT boss and that same tech person. The questions they asked weren't hard. The second interview was super short, less than 10 minutes. I got a vibe that it was a "Good Ole Boys Club," especially from the IT boss. Looking at their leadership page later, I saw only one minority out of 60 employees, which made me concerned about diversity. The day after the second interview, they called to say they went with someone "more experienced." It felt like maybe they were just interviewing me to meet an EEO requirement and already had someone else in mind. It's possible my race wasn't a factor, but that's my take on it.
