First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Youngstown State University.
Coordinator
I got contacted by them after about 3 weeks. The interview was pretty straightforward, though the interviewers seemed a bit unfocused. The questions were the usual situational ones you'd find anywhere. They didn't mention anything about salary.
- Do you have the relevant experience?
Campus Tour Guide
The interview process for this position is very laid back. When I interviewed there it was in person and you’re usually interviewed by your potential future supervisor, a grad assistant, and another campus tour guide if they’re available.
- What's your response when a prospective student asks about parties?
- Can you mention some popular spots or events in Youngstown/Youngstown State?
Student Worker
It's pretty simple to get a job on campus because they're always looking for people. When you interview, they'll ask you about your major, what year you are, your GPA, and what you're interested in. Usually, they just need one interview to decide if they want to hire you.
- Can you tell me about some of your interests outside of school?
Supplemental Instruction Leader
I applied online through an email. I got a call and scheduled an in-person interview at the Youngstown State campus. They asked a lot of task and situational questions. The interviewer was very nice and we had a dialogue, going off script. The interview was supposed to be 30 minutes but lasted about an hour. The whole process took about a month.
- How do you handle difficult individuals?
