First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Young Innovations.
Financial Analyst
The interview process started with a remote interview, then an on-site visit which included four one-on-one interviews with different people. Afterwards, we took a tour of the facility. The entire process spanned about five weeks, with the on-site portion lasting approximately four hours.
- Can you share an instance where you successfully navigated and resolved a conflict?
Analyst
Applied online and had an initial conversation with recruiter shortly after. Recruiter was very late to the interview and provided the most mundane and absurd reason for tardiness. Showed lack of consideration for my time. Was ill equipped to conduct interviews as they kept repeating the same questions I had already answered. Wouldn’t recommend this organization to anyone.
- What's your reason for leaving your current job?
Manager
Hires are mostly through references, but we're moving away from that. The interviews typically involve meeting 3-4 teams of two people, then a tour. If they like you, they'll call you back for a second interview, but it can take a while, sometimes up to a month. We look for enthusiasm, how well you connect and listen, and if you ask good questions. Qualifications are sometimes important, sometimes not, which was frustrating as a hiring manager.
- What is your ideal role considering our company and your aspirations?
Marketing Manager
The interview process was very disrespectful of my time, similar to what others have experienced. The interviewer cancelled our scheduled interview just two minutes before it was supposed to start, even though I was already prepared and waiting in the meeting room. The cancellation email was vague, just asking for alternative dates. I provided more dates right away but then had to wait another week and follow up again to get a new time confirmed. When the interview finally started, our videos were off, which I found a bit strange. The interviewer initially seemed enthusiastic, but when I suggested turning on our cameras, she said, "It doesn't matter, I usually follow the candidates lead." This comment was off-putting, especially since I had prepared for this twice. Once she saw me on camera, her energy immediately shifted, echoing comments from other reviews about a lack of diversity. I was told I might hear back that week or the following week, with potential delays due to a sales conference. I really wish companies would treat candidates with more respect. Ultimately, I was ghosted, even after a polite follow-up within the given timeframe. This whole experience left a very negative impression of the people and the company's overall functioning. I had hoped to get clarification on a few red flags during the process, but I'll consider this a learning experience and will seek opportunities with companies that value their candidates and employees.
