I had a first chat with the regional manager, then another one with senior management. Since I already knew the regional manager from working at a previous gym, it kind of sped things up. The questions were really straightforward, mostly focusing on personality rather than anything else.

I went in several times to talk to a manager and gave them my resume. I was met with a lazy front desk staff member who was new and into 'bro science.' I didn't get any reply. I sent several more emails to HQ and the Gainesville, FL location. I only got one phone call back. I scheduled an interview which took another two weeks. It was with a recent college grad with a bachelor's degree. After he kept me waiting 15 minutes past the appointment time, he finally sat down with me. He explained that we write an entire month's worth of programming for clients without getting paid a month up front. This sounds fishy. With the other trainers who were overweight and kids motivated by 'bro science' degrees, I didn't really want to work there. Don't expect a call back because their whole system is a joke. The management's lack of communication is terrible. The Youfit organization is garbage. Don't waste your time with this place, because they'll waste yours.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

Applied online and got a call a week later for an in-person interview. Interviewed with the club general manager and regional manager for about 20-30 minutes. They asked standard background questions, about why I'd be the best candidate, and also explained how the gym operates. Had another interview with a district manager, which was a bit unexpected. This one focused on my sales background and my comfort level with leading sales meetings. It was only about 10 minutes long. Got offered the job right after.

Since the company has a high turnover rate due to low pay and intense sales pressure from upper management to sell personal training packages, they are desperate for employees. The interview is straightforward; they'll ask about your past sales experience, your motivation for working there, and if you're okay with working over 40 hours a week (note that working 45-50 hours weekly is mandatory and paid straight, not overtime). If you have any fitness knowledge and especially if you're a strong salesperson, they'll hire you. The process involves three interviews before an offer is extended.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Are you comfortable with working more than 40 hours per week?
