The interview had three interviewers and lasted for about an hour and a half. They asked a lot of questions about the trust's operations, like its employee count and the services it offers (such as 111/999, Air Ambulance, and HART). There were also many scenario and competency-based questions. My tip is to think about experiences you've learned from, even if they were initially bad, because they want to see that you can own up to things and reflect. They also asked clinical questions, including about managing cardiac arrests and their reversible causes.

The interview was very straightforward and easy. I felt a lot of pressure, but having friendly interviewers made it easier. It was an informal interview, and it felt like a flowing conversation.

The interview started with a listening test where I had to answer 10 questions based on a PowerPoint presentation, which was pretty straightforward. Then came the second part, which involved 4 mock telephone calls. Unfortunately, I didn't pass this section because of what I said. During the first mock call, my headset wasn't working, so I couldn't hear anything and had to keep asking the caller to repeat themselves. The assessor noticed this and came over because she could tell something was wrong. This issue wasn't mentioned when I was told I failed, which feels unfair. I explained the headset problem to the assessor, and she seemed surprised, realizing she hadn't known about it. My advice would be to make sure your telephone set is working correctly for the first call and that the volume is loud and clear, not quiet or muffled.
