It was a friendly and respectful interview process. They inquired about my certifications and asked to see past class videos. I appreciated the detailed questions and the request to conduct a class rehearsal. Since it's a franchise, they were interested in my flexibility regarding working at different locations.

I went through three interviews before I accepted the job offer. The first was a fifteen-minute phone interview with the manager. The second was an in-person interview with the manager. The last was an in-person interview with the studio owner.

I was interviewed by a third-party consultant, who wasn't local. The owner, who is apparently very sizeist and elitist, reviewed the Zoom calls instead of interviewing me directly. I'd heard rumors that she wouldn't hire someone based on size, and I asked the interviewer if this was true before we started recording. I'm not sure if he told her about my question. I was the sales manager and acting general manager at a Pure Barre previously, so I'm fully trained on their systems and processes and understand the sales and corporate teams' mindsets. I just needed to slightly adjust my sales pitch for yoga classes. After a week and a half, I received a one-line email saying I wasn't moving forward. I asked for feedback but never got a response.

The interview started with an AI bot. After not hearing back in a timely manner, I was supposed to schedule a follow up with the general manager. The meeting got rescheduled the day of. When I said the new time didn't work, they said they were moving in a different direction. Overall, I'm neutral about the experience, but it was unprofessional and inconsiderate of my time. If I were offered the job, I wouldn't have accepted because these are red flags for me. It felt like I was a backup and they couldn't or wouldn't make time to interview me or give me notice for schedule changes.
