First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at YMCA of Greater Brandywine.
Counselor
The people interviewing are really down to earth, nice, and genuine. You don't need to be scared or anxious because they've all been in your shoes before. They'll ask the typical strengths and weaknesses questions, plus some that make you think outside the box, like when you prevented a problem.
- Tell me about your strengths and weaknesses.
- Can you describe a situation where you prevented a problem from occurring?
Director of Wellness
The interview process was smooth and the people were very nice and straightforward. They clearly cared about the community they are working with. You could tell they are looking for someone to be a part of their team and that could fit in well.
- What impact would you aim to have on the area?
- Can you tell me about your experience in various areas?
- What's your background with non-profit organizations?
Child Care Worker
It was a group interview over Zoom. They messaged us individually for personal questions and to discuss moral work. Overall it was pretty easy. They started with the basics, then moved on to how to handle a classroom, and finally to moral situation 'what ifs.' At the end, they asked about availability, locations, and benefits.
- What actions would you take if a child fell?
- How would you manage a classroom setting?
- What is your approach to ethical dilemmas in childcare?
Childcare Teacher
They asked me about my education and experience, and how I would teach. They also asked if I knew about Keystone Stars. It was pretty easy and relaxed. I was also asked to describe the classroom environment from a visitor's perspective.
- Could you tell me how many years of experience you have?
- Could you tell me about your education and experience and how you would teach?
- Are you familiar with Keystone Stars?
