First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ygrene Energy Fund.
Operations Coordinator
Recruiter reached out and did the first interview, which was really detailed and interactive. Then the direct manager did a second interview, but it was super short, like under 10 minutes. It felt like she just did it as a formality because she seemed to already know who she wanted.
- What is your understanding of our organization?
- Could you introduce yourself?
- Can you share your strengths and weaknesses?
Documentation Specialist
It started easy with a call about the job to discuss what it entails and the pay. Then I went to the Miami office for an in person interview. First I met the manager for Document Specialist, it was pretty relaxed. Then I met the HR manager for a bit and finished off with a short chat with the call center manager. All 3 interviewed me separately. I followed up and sent thank yous but never heard back.
- Can you give me 5 words that describe you?
- What are 5 words that do not describe you?
- What words would you use to describe your ideal boss?
Corporate Trainer
It was a long process, lots of homework and projects. It felt like too much for a Manager level, more like executive level. They never followed up on any of the assignments, projects or time spent during the process. I wish Ygrene would consider the candidate's time and hours spent during the interviewing process for such a position in the future. I felt like I was an employee assigned work and scheduled full days with no compensation. I had 8 projects assigned from my 1st phone screen, the job description alone was 3 pages long. I had a 2nd phone screen and we spoke for an hour. I had a 3rd live interview with 2 people. During the 3rd live interview, I received another on the spot assignment I had to complete in 15 minutes. I had to complete after the 3rd interview, a personality test online. I heard nothing for a month. When I did I declined the 4th live interview but the recruiter was great throughout and advised me to accept the 4th interview. The 4th interview was live that included a presentation for 6 people, another telephone interview, 6 separate in-person interviews including someone in IT who was not on the schedule and randomly came into the conference room and started interviewing me quite intensely. During my presentation, I was treated rather unkind by two of the attendees who asked questions as if I was actually employed. It was a lot for this level and still did not hear back for a week and that was just an update to let me know I was still in the running. At that point, I decided after waiting another week to gracefully decline anything further.
- How do you handle working with different types of people?
- Tell me about a time you had to handle a difficult situation at work.
- How do you handle the pressure?
Underwriter
It was a two-stage phone interview. The first was with an HR recruiter, and then the second was with the manager. The manager seemed very rushed and unorganized, asking questions that didn't really relate to the position. They gave very little, if any, detail about the job duties.
- How would you describe your ability to work as part of a team?
