& Process

The interview process was quite disappointing. I had an initial phone interview and was then invited for an in-person interview. They seemed really eager to fill the position. After a couple of weeks, I unexpectedly received an email stating they were very impressed with me and that the process was delayed because managers were on vacation, but I'd hear back the following week. Two more weeks passed without contact, so I emailed them. They replied that they were still considering candidates and suggested I come in again because it had been a while since my first interview. However, they never followed up to schedule this supposed second interview, and at that point, I wouldn't have bothered anyway. It's probably for the best, considering the negative employee reviews for this company.

I had attended a few Paint Nite and Plant Nite events and wanted to become part of the franchise. After one of the events, I asked the event organizer, who was also the regional licensee, about joining. We exchanged emails, and then I met him and his business partner at their storage facility. It was a casual meeting with just the three of us, where they asked me questions to assess my personality and dependability.

I replied to a website posting and got a fast response, so we arranged a phone interview. They called exactly on time, and we talked for about 30 minutes. The representative said they'd send over the job details and contract, which I got right away. I looked it over and emailed back to follow up. We scheduled another phone call, and I had more questions, but they didn't really answer many of them. They seemed really keen to hire me and offer me the contract. But I asked more questions and I'm also still waiting to hear back from another paint nite employee who hires artists around here. I was considering trying out being an artist before getting into the licensing. It's been 10 days and I'm still waiting for that call. I really like the business concept, but I'm feeling discouraged by the responses I got when I asked for clarification. I haven't moved forward with the final interview or signing the contract yet.

It was a really informative and fun interview. I loved the owner's personality and how they were aware of the artists' experience and training. The interview had technical parts and also just general chatting. We met at a coffee shop and talked for about 2 hours. It was casual and a great experience.
